Roti Paung Jalang - Jalang

Sunday, August 7, 2022

Hello~
A new episode is here again haha. Oh, first of all, disclaimer: the title doesn't contain any curse words ok? Lol cause I felt like the word Jalang (derived from Jalan) sounds like the bad word we know xD I even checked with my mom about it and she said it is right (Terengganu pronunciation)~
Alright, my family and I spent our end-and-beginning month in Terengganu last weekend, and we had a very like VERY packed schedule cause it was quite a short (?) stay hee... Stopped by KT for a while then next, to Dungun where we stayed at Tanjong Jara Resort for some chilling time (not so chilling but hectic and packed as said but absolutely fun!😻). psst: Scroll through if you'd like to see our room tour video 👀.

So, let's start with the activities we did in KT first...

After countless times of visiting KT, eventually we brought ourselves to its State Museum for Terengganu Cultural Village in the same area. We were in rush and had limited time so we didn't manage to go into the museum but the Kampung Budaya only. We'll probably revisit the museum next time.

.the museum.
.the nelayan house.
.dad explaining.
.this was inside Istana Nik(?) and it has surahs' carving on the wall and one of them is doa penghindar wabak.
.the entrance to Istana Tengku Long.
A mini story of this Istana: My mom told us that she used to visit her great-grandmother in this very palace during the time it is still in its original place. She also said that the building was significantly big and had many parts connected with bridges they never had to walk on the ground. Ahhh, how I wished I can visit it during those times~

It took us about an hour only for the Kampung Budaya. So it was true (reviewers said) we need to spend around 2-3 hours if you're visiting the museum altogether.

Next, going to a friend of my lil brother's house to enjoy some scrumptious local delicacies. haha kidding but true, we were served with nice kues and laksam. Not to forget, the famous sotong celup tepung from Poknong's as it was nearby to his house area. Even after those sotong celup tepung, we still went to our regular celup tepung place, MCTS for crabs haha.

"Kok looks like another wisata kuliner?" wkwk~ Oh, talking about food, now it reminds me that we actually went to Pasar Payang again first in the morning to get some kues, roti paung, spices, and breakfast meals but they weren't really up to our expectations anymore :(

.the roti paung that is just emmm bought at the pasar.
That's all for the things we did in KT and now moving on to Dungun, Tanjong Jara~ and yeayyy, on the way, there were so many roti paung shops by the roadside and we missed a lot of them but the rizq was here, at this shop and it's our luck, too to get the good ones.

The buns were not oily and the texture is good! 👍🏻 Satisfied my roti palette, only a bit not bouncy (ya know if you're a baker specialises in bread making) but overall is 🤍.

Now, let's talk about the room first before we continue with the other activities that were done here in Tanjong Jara, and as usual, the room tour video is here. We took 2 rooms as always cause no family room was available. I'll just randomly put some parts of the hotel to lessen the photos posted here or else it'll be a loooong one since I won't be making it in parts as before xD
.hiking trail starts here.
.going to its private beach.
.one of the pools they have.
.outdoor area of atas sungei restaurant.
.the entrance, no filter 100%.

.reception.
.this will only light up when it's occupied.
.spa as usual.
.the gym.
.not the hotel part but saw this in the gallery and ahh i want that cotton candy again xD.
.lemme add this here because of the hellokitty cotton candy. hellodyna and hello kitty are inseparable haha.
.waiting for check-in at the lobby and was served with welcome dessert instead; ice cream Malaysia i believe.
Oops, one more thing perhaps? Or two? Before we move on to the activities? 🤭 Some food photos, more random beach photos of us, and my looks!
\/ received kepok and soup for an appetizer while waiting for main dishes /\
.indoor atas sungei restaurant.
.dinner.
\/ my breakfast, more to choose but i just can't eat tooo early in the morning heee /\
.nasi lemak with fish eaten by papa xD.
\/ looks the same but different /\
.desserts.
.always start with salad or fruits first.
Honestly, there were so many stations of varieties of food but I just can't eat everything haha. They also have the rice, noodles, and cereals but yeah it's okay, we can get them at home, too haha (actually I can get everything at home cause mom loves to cook and bake xD)~ anyway, here comes random photos again.

.dad said gentlemen haha.
.finally using my HK bag for the first time, which was bought at HK Town years ago lol.
/\ "oh no! roti paung face... oopsie gotta cover. xD" \/

Okay, okayyy... you are now about to enter the chapter on TJR activities. Are you ready?

.first is, strolling around and going to the beach. balancing on the wavy sands with a bag on the shoulder and a phone in the hand is quite challenging xD.
.a little info about turtles before the release.
.second, baby turtle release.

We had to cross the beach for 300m from the resort for the hatching place cause they need to be in the dark and the walk wasn't easy, our feet were buried deeply in the sand every step we took so it somehow became an exercise haha but was fun and now my lil bro said he knows why Captain Jack Sparrow runs and jumps instead of walking properly xD. He tried to do it like Sparrow and it's easier to pass through without getting his feet sank!
.third, board games.
.sucimurni exercise done on the platform at the back.
.fourth, batik painting.
.fifth, tennis like after 2009 i stopped playing as we moved back here for good from Jakarta.
.sixth, watching movies like we love to do at Mangala and oh, seventh, relaxing at the spa.

Andddd lastly, no no more... wait wait, I actually left out another one (I hope only one though lol)... we went for Jara Hill Walk (guide explaining nature around the resort and mini hiking at the hill) and also performed a Sucimurni exercise in the morning. Unfortunately, no photos of the exercise but I felt that we were pretty though (the postures haha). Ahh, that's two again xD. Our time was cramped so we couldn't join every activity they provided but we're just so lucky with the hatching release they said. It's uncommon to be able to witness such an event as it is seasonal.
.romy, quokka and bbokari signing off with the batik turtle 😸, will surely come back.
.incase anyone asked, yes i crochet them myself ✌🏻.

**hitting the gong thrice like the bellboy to check out** bye and see you again in the next post lovelies. Hope you enjoyed my rushed (I feel like it is heee) and quite a messy post as usual. Don't forget to watch the room tour video okie? You can know more about the gong in this video >> Serambi Room Tour

psst: it has the same vibe as the one we stayed in Puri Sunia Ubud, Bali, and also Mangala Resort. Well, maybe a mixture of them both :)
