Hello people! It's the last month of the year again and currently, it feels like we're having winter season, too, as it's colder from the rain and lower temperature (it's monsoon season for us lol and it can be really hot too some days).
Today's write isn't related to any of the things I'm talking about above though haha. It's just that we had one of the best fish & chips again, besides Harry Ramsden, at another place just in KL, last November, called Cor Blimey! (it's an expression slang used by locals in the UK my dad said, so iykyk).
HARRY RAMSDEN (HR) VS COR BLIMEY (CB)
๐ HR is harder to get as it's at Genting while CB is easier and nearer
๐ CB has more choices for fish type while HR only has three (but of course the only thing that matters to us is that they both have the best one which is Haddock, our fav choice)
๐ Even though CB has more choices for the types and batter flavours, HR has options for the sizes
๐ Both HR and CB fried their fish nicely and not as oily which is great (not feeling nauseous or muak) but still juicy
๐ Their texture is different but both are good in their own style: HR has that crispy batter while CB is less crispy but with some spice/ ingredients in the batter
๐ Their chips are real chips (not those thin fries); CR's looks a little bit like wedges
๐ HR focuses more on its fish & chips while CR offers a little bit more than HR; they have desserts, pies, and appetizers, too!
๐ Now the pricing, they are both more or less on the same side haha
๐ Oh, their mushy peas... CR has more flavour to it (it's minted) compared to HR which is the basic and plain ones
.wow look at the top part, it was so misty. |
/\ the kids'
.yum appetiser: curry cauliflower poppers. |
/\ THE fish & chips
.don't forget to sprinkle your vinegar to make it extra yum. |
/\ with western curry batter
/\ apple berry crumble pie with vanilla custard
.deep fried chocolates with ice cream. |
/\ fried MARS chocolate
.fried SNICKERS chocolate. |
VERDICT→ These two places definitely bring back memories for my dad as they reminisced about his time there. They're the ones close and tasted authentic to the OG ones in the UK (of course for HR as it's the brand from there lol but also since CR's co-owner is also a Britain's local). Will always return for more!
psst: I'm one of those who doesn't really like fish & chips as I always had the oily and muak ones, not until I had the ones from HR and CR that I started to be able to accept and love it heee (เนแต⤙แตเน) also psst psst, if you're going to HR, make sure to go to the main ones as I attached far above that you'll be served in boxes, not its bar next to it yeah~
