Hello friends... after just about two weeks apart (wait, or was it three?), we're southbound yet again... this time, it could be a very mini getaway to rest and break from all the hustle and bustle of the fabrics, laces and beads~ well, actually, we were there once more, also for a wedding, except it was just our parents. My siblings and I went to a Korean art style workshop instead to pass the time with something fun, so as not to just waste it away like that.
We stayed for a very short time, hence we tried to squeeze in every cafe's trip we found and any places we wanted to be at, which is only significant when you're in JB. We visited 3 cafes (1 of which was unplanned and supposedly there'll be another one which we didn't have the chance to yet, also a gelato place)...
The first one was The Ice Cream Project, and oh, the place was tiny but got two floors... the texture of gelato was very lovely, it looked like they melted but actually didn't lol. Everyone enjoyed their gelato of choice. Mine was the double mint choco, and I can say it's refreshing and more minty than the one from Baskin-Robbins, which is one of my favs, too.
Pssst, we went to just get some sweets for dessert since we had our fulfilling early dinner at our favoured resto in Iskandar Puteri before checking into the hotel in the heart of Johor.
Satisfied filling our belly with the delectable gelatos, since the bazaar karat is nearby, we decided to just look around for the vibe, and along the way, we chanced upon the unique classic design of the Marrybrown store with its red-painted walls that I joked with my sister about (cause she just loves Marrybrown haha).

Here comes Saturday, of which the main event was... and after the workshop (in Skudai) and wedding (in Pasir Gudang)... we made a trip to a nearby cafe, Maneh by Momo, from our workshop (well, it was a 20-minute journey too, though hahaha) and met our parents there to return to JB together.
.oh, we be feeling Jeju cause usually these workshops can be found there. |
.wanted to make it as pink as possible, but turned out my inner limkokwing took over as my sister said lol. |

As we reached our hotel area, we then needed to pass by Kota Jail to go to the parking lot... both are just a 2-minute driving distance apart from each other, hence why... then it was still noon, we decided to drop by for a while to mark We were here! haha. Wanted to just take some photos of the front building but ended up going into the jail compound, too, which they turned into some kinda museum with info and etc. Actually planned to visit it the day we arrived; however, it was already late evening, and we felt it wasn't as nice to go to this kind of place at night, even if it's still open, right? ( ꈍ◡ꈍ)

After some quick rest at the hotel, we journeyed to another cafe for a dinner that was somehow a bit sayang... why, you asked? It was because we went for the pastries, but they're all sold out by the time we got there (a verrry late afternoon; nearly dawn). To heal a bit of our broken heart, we tried the desserts that were still available, and luckily, I love love plain croissant, so I got one for myself to test. Everything was nice except a dish ordered by mom that was a tad bit too salty~ so, lesson learned for Loaf Adam; get there as early as you can for their pastries haha.
.while waiting for the food, ft. my cute glass that no one knows I own (well, just my fam) since I only wear it during my screen time to protect my so far, perfect-marked eyes hehe. |
Thought we'd go to another gelato place I told you about (Siblings Gelato), so we returned to the hotel to park our car to just take a Grab, only to get another broken heart lol. The drop-off point was a bit complicated at night, with the bazaar karat area close by, so we cancelled the trip and will definitely try it next time.
Baskin-stop as usual. This time around, I tried their latest seasonal menu while the others got their mood of the day flavours haha.

So, that was it, I guess, for our short-cation... Even though this stay was quite short compared to our usual holiday duration, I can say we did enjoy it!
