The Chens gone North Part II: The Visits 1

Wednesday, December 29, 2021

Okay, after a day of break (actually, I did some crochet work yesterday that I didn't have the time to write when I actually wanted to), meeting you guys again in the second part of the Utagha(?) trip.

What's a trip or vacation without visiting attractions right? So, for today's write-up, it's gonna be about the exciting part of the trip which is going for sightseeings. Honestly, there are so many photos we took, well about 500++, so not all of them will be posted hehe but I can assure you that you'll get each of the corners we went through xD that day.

FIRST VISIT: Pinang Peranakan Mansion

This mansion is one of the places we intended to go to and is on our list cause it's just in the nearby area with our hotel. It's also because we love cultural things! But we didn't know that it's actually that close, we accidentally found it the day before, when we walked around to the Padang Kota area. Now, that's easy hehe so the walk took only a few minutes the next morning to reach the mansion.
.the center of the house with an air well for lightings also for feng shui.

A little bit about the mansion is that it belongs to a former farmer turned tin mining tycoon known as Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee who is promoted to be a second rank officer by the emperor of China during the time before the war after he donated a large sum of money to his home country. The mansion was built at the end of the 19th century and although he's not a Baba, his mansion resembles those of the wealthy Baba houses with Chinese carved wooden panels, English floor tiles, and Scottish ironworks.

psst: before I forgot again, the fee to enter is MYR20/ person.

Did you know that we spent almost 2 hours at this mansion only?! Now you know heee. We didn't notice at all as it was a fun one for us. We actually planned to go to another mansion but it's only open for tours on the weekend starting Friday, so it wasn't our luck this time. Oh yeah, it's the mansion that appeared in the famous movie, Crazy Rich Asians. The one that they played mahjong together was at this mansion called, the Blue Mansion specifically named Cheong Fatt Tze - The Blue Mansion. We'll definitely go visit it next time!

SECOND VISIT: Penang Hill, Bukit Bendera

Alright, since we've spent the first half of the day at the mansion, then after an hour break, we decided to go to the of course, 'must-go' tourist attraction location if you're in Penang, the Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera)~ We've been here before but without our younger brother so let's revisit... it also has some changes from our previous visit that it's great to be there again.
./\ the line for normal lane was sooo long that it's gonna be in 2 more hours to go up, so express lane we go~ \/.
.the last time we went it was a bit misty luckily this time it's clear.
./\ the boys had a foot spa while waiting for our hennas to be done but we finished first haha so we ended up waiting for them \/.
.lol the auntie suddenly asked for my name, I didn't know she's gonna put it there xD.
.what is life bruh haha.
.reached the peak and went straight for lunch.
.the entrance from this side is under construction lets see what they're gonna make it into.
.\/ couple caricature /\.
Here too, at the Penang Hill, we actually spent hours but we don't know what we really did there. lol maybe the time we had a break and just strolling around the area is it. Eventhough, it feels like nothing but  it was undeniably enjoyable. ♥️

.just a vintage store to get this vinyl and clothes.
We were rushed in this store cause we were confused with its timing. We reached at 1830, written closed at 2100 on the door and we were so relieved but its actually closed at 1900?? Hmmm, better remove that old timing to avoid confusion, right? But it was still a catch, will go again for those vinyls.

That's that for this part my lovely readers. Another part for the visits will be posted tomorrow~ Stay tuned~
